Suffolk anniversaries
60thSTASIA AND HERB SMALL of Smithtown, formerly of Springfield Gardens, were wed Aug. 5, 1951, at Springfield Gardens Methodist Church. They celebrated on a family cruise to Bermuda. Herb worked for LILCO and retired from his own business, Pic Rentals Inc., in West Sayville. Stasia was a medical records supervisor at Community Health Plan of Suffolk. They have three children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
55thMARGARET (MARGIE) AND JOSEPH (CHICKIE) MARTIN of St. James were wed Sept. 1, 1956, at St. Joseph's Church in Astoria, Queens. The couple met when they were 16, were engaged at 18 and they married at 20. Joseph is a retired New York City firefighter. Margie is a homemaker. They had four children, three of whom survive, and four grandchildren.
50thESTHER AND JOE RICKER of Sag Harbor celebrated Aug. 19. The couple met on base in Misawa, Japan, and were married at the naval air station in Pensacola, Fla. Joe retired as news director for WLNG /
FM Sag Harbor and worked in public affairs at Westhampton Air National Guard Base. Esther is retired as a teacher at Southampton Elementary School. They have two children and four grandchildren.
40thOLIVIA AND JOHN COSTER of Shoreham were wed Aug. 14, 1971. John is a retired teacher at Sachem North High School. Olivia is a preschool teacher at St. Anselm's Nursery School in Shoreham. They celebrated with a trip to Denmark, Sweden and Norway and at a party with their five children and 12 grandchildren.
25thDENISE AND JOSEPH ARNOLD of West Islip were wed July 19, 1986. They celebrated with a trip to St. Kitts in the Caribbean. The celebration continued with a surprise party at the VFW in Lindenhurst hosted by their family. Denise is a homemaker. Joe is a partner at Northeastern Custom Brokerage Co. They have three children.
25thBARBARA AND BILL SALVAGGIO of Amityville celebrated June 28 with dinner at Angelina's Restaurant in Lynbrook hosted by their children. Bill is a retired machinist. Barbara retired from St. John's University. They had nine children, eight of whom survive, and 20 grandchildren. They enjoy boccie and traveling.
