Wanted: School vandalism; armed robbery

Nassau police and its Crime Stoppers department are looking for suspects responsible for acts of vandalism at a Levittown school.

Between 8 a.m. on May 2 and 9 a.m. on July 11 there have been several incidents of criminal mischief at the Montessori School on North Village Green West, including broken windows, damage to playground equipment, graffiti sprayed outside the building, and a damaged gas meter, resulting in about $3,700 in damages, according to police. Anyone with information can call the toll-free and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-244-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers offers up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Suffolk police and its Crime Stoppers department are looking for a suspect in an armed robbery at a Commack convenience store.

Police said that at about 4:50 a.m. on Aug. 8, a man entered the 7-Eleven store on 6230 Jericho Tpke., and pulled out a handgun. He demanded money from the cash register. The employee complied, and the suspect took the cash, stuffed it in a plastic bag, left the store and ran down Valmont Avenue.

He is described as being 20-30 years old, 5-foot-10, with a thin build and curly, brown hair. He was wearing a green T-shirt, baggy gray sweatpants and a face mask.
