She is the orchestra director for Perkiomen Valley Middle School East in Collegeville, Pa., and is the daughter of James and Patricia Burns of Holbrook. The bridegroom is an elementary school teacher for Philadelphia Academy Charter School and is the son of Larry and Gloria Shafman of Philadelphia. The bride earned a bachelor's degree from West Chester University and is pursuing a master's degree from Temple University. The groom earned a bachelor's degree from West Chester University. They live in Philadelphia.
