Wedding: Karen Schwartz and Carlo Saldana

Karen Schwartz and Carlo Saldana were wed Jan. 29 at the Seabrook Island House in South Carolina, where the reception followed. She is a project manager for a medical laboratory and is the daughter of Robert and Maureen Schwartz of Sayville. The bridegroom is a U.S. Army drill sergeant at Fort Benning, Ga., and is the son of Jose and Nella Saldana of San Antonio. The bride earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a master's in bioinformatics from George Mason University. The groom is a Purple Heart recipient with more than 14 years of military service and is an infantry noncommissioned officer. They live at Fort Benning.
