She works for Lord & Taylor and is the daughter of Kerry and Linda Murtha of Franklin Square. The bridegroom works for the Nassau County Sheriff's Department and is the son of Jose and Lucy Ortiz of Kernersville, N.C. The bride graduated from H. Frank Carey High School. The groom graduated from Lawrence High School. They live in Franklin Square.
