HOFFMANN-OATES

Sharon Susanna Hoffmann and Richard Hunter Oates Jr. were married Oct. 10 at Crescent Beach Club in Bayville with a reception following. She is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Geological Sciences Department at the University of Michigan and is the daughter of Susan and Charles Hoffmann of East Norwich. The bridegroom is a research assistant in the Biological Sciences Department at Wayne State University and is the son of Kathy and Richard Oates of Gainesville, Ga. The bride earned a PhD in marine geology and the groom a master's in chemical oceanography, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program in Oceanography. They live in Ann Arbor, Mich.
