Alexander Orlov of Smithtown has been named a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry in Britain for his "outstanding contributions to the advancement and application of chemical science," the organization said. Orlov is an assistant professor of materials science and engineering as well as a faculty member of the Consortium for Interdisciplinary Environmental Research at Stony Brook University. He has also published numerous peer-reviewed articles in science journals including Energy & Environmental Science, and is currently lead author contributing to the United Nations Environmental Program's Global Environmental Outlook report.
