Anna M. Canadeo of Oyster Bay recently received the 2013 Employee of Distinction award from the nonprofit LeadingAge New York in recognition of her "extraordinary dedication" to serving older adults, the organization said. Canadeo, who worked in the gerontology field since 1973, is former resident services director of Flushing House, an independent- living retirement community in Flushing, Queens. She also has headed the Flushing House Interfaith Chapel and developed the Flushing House Honeys, a group for women older than 50 that serves as a chapter of the Red Hat Society.
