Arie E. Kaufman of Plainview was recently inducted into the Long Island Technology Hall of Fame based on his "vast accomplishments and contributions to visualization and computer graphics," the organization said. Kaufman works at Stony Brook University, where he serves as chair of the Department of Computer Science, director of the Center for Visual Computing, and chief scientist of the Center for Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology. He has also made "significant" research breakthroughs and "cutting-edge" inventions throughout his career, including the development of the 3-D virtual colonoscopy, the university said.
