Arthur GrollmanProfessor

Arthur Grollman of Setauket has received the 2011 Environmental Mutagen Society Award based on his studies on the mechanisms of mutagenesis and DNA repair and his investigations linking environmental mutagens -- a physical or chemical agent that changes the genetic material -- to human disease. Grollman is a distinguished professor of pharmacological sciences and director of the Zickler Laboratory of Chemical Biology at Stony Brook University School of Medicine. He has served on the National Institute of Environmental Health Science's Board of the Scientific Counselors and testified on clinical pharmacology and herbal medicines before the White House Commission on Alternative and Complementary Health Policy.
