Beth Hammerman of Rockville Centre has received the 2011 Patrick J. Scollard Award for Leadership from Catholic Health Services of Long Island based on her "exemplary leadership skills and commitment" to the organization. Hammerman is the director of planning and community health for Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, which she joined in 1994, and is credited with helping to develop Mercy's outpatient Diabetes Self-Management Education program and National Cancer Survivors Day Brunch, among other things. She is also chairwoman of the Rockville Centre Youth Council, where she focuses on anti-drug and alcohol awareness programs.
