Brendan J. Keys of Massapequa Park has been named 2013 Nurse Practitioner of the Year by the Nurse Prac-titioner Association of Long Island in recognition of his dedication and service to the field. Keys is a primary-care nurse practitioner at Park Boulevard Internal Medicine in Massapequa Park, where he cares for patients in long-term-care settings and makes house calls for senior citizens with limited mobility. Before that he was a nurse practitioner at New Island Hospital in Bethpage and at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside. He is also current captain of the Massapequa Volunteer Fire Department and a retired captain with the New York City Fire Department.
