Chukwuma Egbuziem of Selden recently received the Bernstein Award from Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for embodying the virtues of humanitarianism, compassion and empathy. Egbuziem is a registered nurse at the hospital and is working toward a master's degree in nursing informatics. He started as a licensed practical nurse there in 2003 and is credited with initiating a program to recognize peers for continuing their education and exhibiting exceptional nursing skills.
