Chukwuma Egbuziem of Selden received a 2013 Nurse of Excellence Award from the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council based on his "leadership and quality performance" in the field, the organization said. Egbuziem is a registered nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and the performance improvement coordinator in nursing informatics for the Center for Dialysis Care in Bay Shore. He is also a board member of the American Nephrology Nurses Association's Long Island chapter and a member of the Ugiri Progressive Community, an organization committed to helping the poor in Africa.
