Daisy Amaris of Glen Cove has received the 2012 Long Island West Teacher of the Year Award from Long Island Family and Consumer Science Professionals (FACS) based on her dedication and service to her students. Amaris is a family and consumer science teacher at Sewanhaka Central High School District in Floral Park, where she "shares new teaching techniques with co-workers and maintains a classroom with a mutual respect," FACS officials said. She was honored during a recent awards dinners at Captain Bill's Restaurant in Bay Shore.
