Daniel Devine of Islandia has received the 2012 Outstanding School Board Services Award from the Nassau-Suffolk School Boards Association in recognition of his "exceptional dedication" to school board service and "extraordinary commitment" to children and community, the organization said. Devine is vice president of the Central Islip School District's Board of Education and co-chair of the district's Grants & Curriculum Committee. He has also served as a liaison to the Buildings & Grounds Committee and has been instrumental in implementing meritorious programs and educational initiatives since his election to the board nine years ago.
