Daniel N. Klein of East Setauket has received the 2012 Award for Distinguished Scientific Contributions to Clinical Psychology from the Society of Clinical Psychology for making "distinguished theoretical or empirical contributions to psychology throughout his career." Klein is a professor of clinical psychology and chair of Stony Brook University's psychology department and is considered a leading researcher in determining the causes and treatment of chronic depression, the university said. He also has published more than 250 articles in numerous publications and is currently an investigator on four research grants funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.
