Danielle Caruthers of Garden City was recently named Educator of the Year by the Association of Italian American Educators based on her dedication and service in the field for the past 14 years. Caruthers is an Italian teacher at Garden City Middle School, where she has taught sixth- and seventh-graders since 2000, and is a member of the Association of Italian American Educators and Long Island Language Teachers. She was honored at the association's annual dinner at Chateau Briand in Carle Place on April 28.
