David Anschel of Rocky Point has received the Professional Leadership Award from the Epilepsy Foundation of Long Island based on his support and advocacy within the epilepsy community. Anschel is director of clinical neurophysiology at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson and has worked as an assistant professor of neurology and director of adult epilepsy and intra-operative neurophysiology at Stony Brook University. He has also published several dozen scientific papers, patents and book chapters in his field and consulted for numerous companies and firms.
