Dean Bacigalupo of Island Park has received a Superintendent's Outstanding Appreciation Recognition (SOAR) award based on his "exceptional work ethic, performance and commitment to excellence." Bacigalupo is a social studies teacher at Lincoln Orens Middle School in Island Park and president of the Island Park Public Library. Before that he served for five years at IS 211 John Wilson School in Brooklyn. He also has served as administrator-in-charge of the district's Saturday Social Studies Academics Program and a voting member of the site-based management team.
