Denise Quintyne of Amityville recently received the Phoenix Award from the Town of Babylon in recognition of her "tireless efforts" developing a base of parent advocates in the community, the town said. Quintyne is director of the Child Care Council of Suffolk's Parent Leadership Initiative and before that held various administrative positions at Upper Room Christian School in Dix Hills and was a bank accountant. She is also involved with the NAACP, National Association of Professional Women, and the Long Island Progressive Coalition, among other organizations.
