Dmitri E. Kharzeev of Port Jefferson has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science for "distinguished contributions to the field of theoretical nuclear physics." He's a senior scientist at Brookhaven National Laboratory, where he was head of the lab's Nuclear Theory Group for six years and has explored the understanding of relativistic heavy ion physics. He is also a professor of physics and astronomy at Stony Brook University and an adjunct professor at Yale University.
