Donald E. Porter of Setauket has received the Faculty Early Career Development Program Award from the National Science Foundation based on his efforts "exemplifying the role of the teacher-scholar through outstanding research and excellent education." Porter, an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at Stony Brook University, has been awarded a five-year grant for approximately $400,000 that will go toward funding research into the development of efficient computer virtualization techniques. He has also established and oversees Stony Brook's Operating System Security Concurrency and Architecture Lab.
