Dorothy Mock of Dix Hills recently received the Bernstein Award from Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for continuing to "exemplify the values of humanitarianism, compassion and empathy," the center said. Mock, an advanced practice professional, has made several trips to do home repairs and bring medical supplies to needy individuals in Honduras and Mexico. She also works with underprivileged women at Madonna Heights, a Dix Hills facility that helps adolescent girls, women and families overcome the effects of poverty, neglect and abuse.
