Joseph L. Tromba of Garden City has received the 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Stony Brook Alumni Association based on his "extraordinary contributions" to his field. Tromba is a developer and founding member of the Endoscopy Center of Long Island in Garden City, an attending physician at Winthrop-University Hospital and a teaching affiliate of Stony Brook University School of Medicine. He also has served as an adjunct professor of gastrointestinal physiology at Hofstra University and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology.
