Edward Kanaley of Suffolk County recently received the Charles Lionel Chute "Line Officer of the Year" Award from the Federal Probation and Pretrial Officers Association in recognition of his dedication, compassion, perseverance and integrity in enriching the lives of others. Kanaley is a probation officer for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District, which he joined in 1995, and has the responsibility for supervising some of the region's most dangerous offenders. He also serves as the district's clinic services coordinator overseeing all substance abuse treatment programs and is an instrumental part of its workforce development program.
