Elizabeth Carll of Centerport has received the 2012 Award for Distinguished Professional Contributions to Media Psychology from the American Psychological Association's Media Division based on her many years of advocacy for the use of both traditional media and newer technologies for access to mental health information and services. Carll is a clinical and consulting psychologist in Huntington and Centerport and is past president of the Suffolk County Psychological Association. She is also chair of the United Nations' NGO Committee on Mental Health and a representative to the United Nations from the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
