Frank Degen of Setauket has received the 2013 Bill Payne Advocacy Award from the National Association of Enrolled Agents in recognition of his "commitment to advocacy" on behalf of enrolled federally licensed tax practitioners who may represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service, the organization said. Degen, a self-employed tax practitioner, is the association's immediate past president and served two nonconsecutive terms in the position. He is also a fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute and is among fewer than 300 practitioners who have been admitted to practice in the U.S. Tax Court.
