Fred Philips of Islip Terrace has received the Outstanding Board Member Award from the Hauppauge-based Council of Administrators and Supervisors based on his "outstanding leadership, commitment and dedication to excellence in education." Philips is president of Central Islip Public Schools' Board of Education and is co-founder of the Central Islip Little League's girls softball program. He has also served as president of the district's PTA Council and Mulvey Elementary PTA and is a member of the Islip Town School Boards Association.
