Fred Philips, School board chief

 

Fred Philips of Islip Terrace received the Outstanding Board Member Award from Hauppauge-based Council of Administrators and Supervisors for "outstanding leadership, commitment and dedication to excellence in education." He's president of Central Islip Public Schools' Board of Education and is co-founder of Central Islip Little League's girls softball program. He also has served as president of the district's PTA Council and Mulvey Elementary PTA and as a member of the Islip Town School Boards Association.
