George Michos, formerly of Port Jefferson, was recognized by Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk for more than a decade of service and his "positive impact to the housing landscape of Suffolk County," the organization said. Michos, a retired engineer now living in Florida, served as a member of Habitat's group of semiretired and retired individuals, called "The Regulars," who visit sites weekly to assist supervisors in the construction process and serve as crew leaders for volunteer groups. In recognition of his contributions, Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk designated June 29 as George Michos Day.
