Harold M. Somer of upstate Salisbury has received the 2013 Thomas A. Maligno Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award from the Nassau County Bar Association in recognition of his dedication to assisting those in financial crisis. Somer is a bankruptcy attorney in Westbury, where he practices general, commercial, mortgage foreclosure, and foreclosure defense law. He also serves as a member of the New York State Bar Association's Committee on Volunteer Lawyers and regularly lectures on bankruptcy and other legal topics for various professional groups.
