Dr. James A. Vosswinkel of East Setauket recently received the Physicians Award for Excellence in Clinical Practice from Stony Brook University based on faculty peer nominations and for "exemplifying a sustained commitment to excellence in patient care." Vosswinkel is an assistant professor of surgery at the university's School of Medicine as well as chief of trauma and critical care for the Department of Surgery and director of the surgical intensive care unit at Stony Brook University Medical Center. He has also completed a fellowship in trauma/surgical critical care at Yale University.
