James B. BliskaProfessor

James B. Bliska of Setauket has been named a fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology based on his record of scientific achievement and original contributions that have advanced microbiology. Bliska is a professor in Stony Brook University School of Medicine's Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, which he joined in 1993. He is also credited with pioneering work in a specialized bacterial toxin secretion mechanism, which is now referred to as Type III Secretion, and invented an approach used to identify host cell targets of a bacterial toxin.
