James C. Metzger of Point Lookout was recently honored at the 25th annual Long Island Golf Classic coordinated by the American Heart Association, for his "long-standing charitable work with children, families and education throughout the metropolitan area," the organization said. Metzger is CEO and founder of The Whitmore Group in Garden City and supports organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island, the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign and the Citizens' Committee for Children of New York. He also received the George Young Award, given to a person exemplifying the high ideals of the former general manager of the New York Giants, earlier this year at the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in Commack.
