Jamie Varicchio of Island Park recently received a Superintendent's Outstanding Appreciation Recognition (SOAR) Award from the Island Park School District in recognition of her "exceptional work ethic, performance and commitment to excellence." Varicchio is a clerk and typist in the district's business office, where she oversees the fiber-optic telephone system, manages the reproduction room and mail services, and records all cash and checks. She joined the school district as a monitor at Lincoln Orens Middle School in 1986.
