Jane Corrarino of Poquott has received the 2011 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Stony Brook University Alumni Association based on her career and community achievements and "extraordinary commitment" to the university. Corrarino is the director of grants development, coordination, and biostatistical unit of the Suffolk County Department of Health Services and before that worked as a public health nurse in Harlem. She also has served as deputy director of the Suffolk County Executive's Office for Children and is the first vice-chairwoman of the Brookhaven Town Democratic Committee.
