Joanne Lufrano of Point Lookout has been selected for induction next month into the Long Island Mathematics Educators Hall of Fame for serving as a "catalyst for student growth and improvement of curriculum throughout the region," the organization said. Lufrano, an educator in Valley Stream Union Free School District 30, has also served as assistant director of the Valley Stream Teacher Resource Center and lead trainer of its Every Day Math Program. In addition, she has served as president of the Nassau County Mathematics Teachers Association, co-chair of the Sandy Cohen Family Math Day Conference, and an elementary level representative and board member of the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New York State.
