John Hinton of Westbury has been selected for induction next month into the Long Island Mathematics Educators Hall of Fame for his dedication and service to the field. Hinton, an associate professor of education at LIU Post, has also taught at Hofstra and St. John's universities and published 14 volumes of Math Matters, a national journal of math games for elementary- and middle-school teachers. In addition, he has authored seven books on mathematics and served as president emeritus of the African American Heritage Association and honorary chairperson of the New York Small Business Association.
