Dr. Joseph L. Tromba of Garden City has received a 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Stony Brook University Alumni Association based on his career and community achievements as well as his "extraordinary commitment" to the university. Tromba is a founding member of the Endoscopy Center of Long Island in Garden City, an attending physician at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, and a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology. He has also published articles in peer-reviewed journals and has served as an adjunct professor of gastrointestinal physiology at Hofstra University.
