Kathleen Knott of West Islip has been named Woman of the Year by Catholic Daughters of the Americas' Court Bishop McConnell 1403 in Babylon in recognition of her community advocacy for people with disabilities. Knott holds a clerical position in the pre-surgical testing unit of Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where she started as a telecommunications operator in 2009. She is also credited with instituting a Junior Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court and serves on the board of directors of the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Greater Suffolk, for which she coordinates a special-needs faith formation program at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Babylon.
