Kathy Bottner of Hauppauge has received the 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award from Hauppauge School District based on her "professional and personal contributions" to the Hauppauge community. Bottner is Hauppauge school district clerk and has worked with the coalition SAFE KIDS Suffolk County for the past 13 years to raise awareness on the proper use of car safety equipment. She is also treasurer of Hauppauge High School Parent Teacher Student Association, a member of the Hauppauge Middle School PTA, and a volunteer with the Smithtown Youth Bureau.
