Lee Xippolitos of St. James recently received the Community Service Award from the Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk County in recognition of her efforts to establish the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Center at Stony Brook University Hospital in 2009. Xippolitos is dean of Stony Brook University's School of Nursing and a longtime volunteer for the bureau, which she partnered with to establish a training program for forensic nurse examiners. She is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and the New York Organization of Nurse Executives and is past president of the Kappa Gamma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, the international honor society for nursing.
