Lisa Quinones of St. James is one of seven individuals nationwide to receive the Inspired Comfort Award from Cherokee Uniforms, a California-based designer and manufacturer of medical uniforms. Quinones, a nursing professor at Suffolk County Community College, was honored based on her efforts to educate students, health advocates and underserved populations in Latin America. She is also a volunteer brigade member for the nonprofit Hope for a Healthier Humanity and has led medical missions in Honduras, Panama and the Dominican Republic.
