Louis Pepe of East Islip has received the 2012 Volunteer of the Year Award from the Eastern New York Athletic Association based on his dedication and service to soccer and the organization. Pepe, who began playing soccer at the age of 5, joined the Long Island Junior Soccer League's East Islip Soccer Club as a coach in 2004 and later went on to become a board member and its first vice president. He also founded Just for Kicks, a soccer program for special-needs children ages 12-18, and is active with the EJ Autism Foundation in East Islip.
