Maureen Gallagher of West Sayville has been named 2012 Long Island East Teacher of the Year by Long Island Family and Consumer Science Professionals based on her dedication and service to her school community. Gallagher has served as a family and consumer science teacher for Bay Shore Middle School for the past seven years. She previously was as an assistant buyer for Saks Fifth Avenue, has also volunteered as a baker for events at Sagtikos Manor in West Bay Shore, and has sewed pillows for patients at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore.
