Melody Butler of Lindenhurst recently received the Immunity Award from the American Nurses Association in recognition of her initiatives to raise immunization rates and educate the public about the benefits of protection against vaccine-preventable diseases. Butler is a pediatric nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and assists the Lindenhurst PTA Council with its annual blood drive and also hosts a CPR class for district parents. In addition, she volunteers in the religious education programs at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Lindenhurst and at the West Babylon Fire Department.
