Melody Butler of Lindenhurst has received the 2013 Mosby's Super-

heroes of Nursing Award from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association, in recognition of her initiatives to raise immunization rates and educate the public about the benefits of protection against vaccine-preventable diseases. Butler is a pediatric nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where she has worked since 2007. She is also a member of Shot for Life, a global healthy advocacy group, and Voices for Vaccine, a parent-driven organization that provides science-based information about vaccines and vaccine-preventable diseases.
