Peter Elkowitz of Brookhaven recently received the Nonprofit Leadership Award from the New York Mortgage Coalition in recognition of his efforts providing affordable housing opportunities for persons of low and moderate incomes. Elkowitz is president and chief executive of the Long Island Housing Partnership, which has completed more than 40 different housing developments on Long Island since its inception in 1988. He is also chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank's Affordable Housing Advisory Council, a board member of the New York Housing Conference, and a member of JPMorgan Chase's Community Advisory Board and Real Estate Institute.
