Renee Madigan of Floral Park recently received the 2012 Long Island Secondary School Teacher of the Year Award from Long Island University based on her "passion, energy and supportive culture of learning." Madigan is a teacher at New Hyde Park Memorial High School, where she has worked since 2005, and has taught history, geography, economics, criminal justice, and participation in government at the school during that time. She is also an assistant lacrosse coach, co-adviser for the school's Model UN Club, and coordinator for the district's annual homecoming parade.
